ComsOS Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 11, 2026 Last updated: August 11, 2026
ComsOS is a student-developed educational project based in Massachusetts, United States. It is created and operated by Leyang Zhang (the "Student Creator") under the supervision of Jiaqi Yang (the "Supervising Adult"). ComsOS is not currently a corporation, limited liability company, or other separate legal entity.
This Privacy Policy explains how ComsOS handles information through the ComsOS website, waitlist, and diagnostic experience at comsos.app (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
The Service does not currently offer user accounts or accept payments.
We collect information you choose to submit, including:
- the email address you provide when joining the waitlist;
- answers you enter into the diagnostic assessment; and
- scores, grading explanations, concept-mastery estimates, and reports generated from your diagnostic answers.
Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the Service.
Our hosting provider may automatically process basic technical information needed to deliver and secure the Service, such as your Internet Protocol address, browser and device type, request timestamps, and error or security logs.
ComsOS does not currently use advertising cookies, behavioral-advertising trackers, or a third-party analytics SDK.
2. How We Use Information
We may use the information described above to:
- manage the ComsOS waitlist;
- send requested project updates, beta invitations, surveys, or launch announcements;
- grade diagnostic answers and generate scores, explanations, mastery estimates, and session reports;
- respond to questions; and
- operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service.
You may unsubscribe from promotional email at any time by using the unsubscribe method in the message or contacting us.
3. How We Disclose Information
We provide information to service providers when needed to operate the Service:
- Waitlist email addresses are sent to
api.comsos.appto process registrations. - Diagnostic questions, relevant concept information, and your answers are sent through the ComsOS grading route to Anthropic's API. Anthropic returns scores and grading explanations used to create the session report.
- Hosting, infrastructure, and email providers may process information needed to deliver, secure, and support the Service.
These providers may use information only to perform services for ComsOS or as otherwise permitted by their own terms and applicable law.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the safety or rights of users or others, or with your consent.
ComsOS does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Data Retention
We retain your waitlist email address until you unsubscribe or for 24 months after your last interaction with ComsOS, whichever occurs first. We aim to delete the associated waitlist record within 30 days after that point. We may retain a minimal suppression record as reasonably necessary to ensure that an opt-out request continues to be honored.
Diagnostic answers and results are held in browser session memory and are not intentionally saved to a ComsOS application database. They are transmitted to Anthropic for grading and may be temporarily processed in hosting, infrastructure, and security logs. Under Anthropic's standard commercial API practices as of the date of this Policy, API inputs and outputs are generally deleted from Anthropic's backend within 30 days, subject to exceptions described in Anthropic's terms and privacy documentation.
Technical and security logs are retained according to the settings and practices of our providers and only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and protect the Service.
5. Children and Teen Users
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and ComsOS does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. You must be at least 13 to submit information through the Service. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
6. Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No website or electronic transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We handle personal information concerning Massachusetts residents in accordance with applicable Massachusetts privacy and data-security requirements, including Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 93H and 201 CMR 17 where they apply.
7. Your Choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete information you submitted by contacting zhanle@legatusaisolutions.com. We may need to verify your request. Additional rights may apply depending on where you live.
8. Future Features
ComsOS may later introduce accounts, persistent learning histories, payments, expanded AI features, or other functionality. We will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required notices or choices before collecting or using information for materially different purposes.
9. Third-Party Links
The Service may link to third-party websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as the Service changes. We will post the revised version with a new "Last updated" date and provide additional notice when required. The date should be changed only when this Policy or our actual practices materially change.
